Gulf Coast Transit District Unveils New Veterans Bus for Brazoria County

In a heartfelt ceremony on November 6, 2025, Gulf Coast Transit District proudly unveiled a new, specially wrapped bus dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of Brazoria County’s veterans. This vibrant, rolling tribute will serve as a constant reminder of our community’s gratitude as it transports local heroes to their medical appointments.

The event marks a significant milestone in the agency's commitment to veteran services, coming just nine months after the successful launch of a similar patriotic bus in Galveston County. This new Brazoria County bus solidifies a unified front of honor across our primary service areas.

“Today is more than just a bus unveiling; it’s a promise kept to our veterans,” said Ted Ross, GCTD Executive Director. “This bus is a symbol of our unwavering gratitude and a tangible commitment to ensuring they have dignified, accessible transportation to the care they have earned.”

The unveiling ceremony was a poignant community gathering, made even more distinguished by the participation of the Brazoswood High School Air Force JROTC cadets. Under the leadership of TSG Sims and TSG Johnstone, the cadets performed a flawless and moving Presentation of Colors, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the event.

The new bus wrap features a striking design of patriotic imagery, including the American flag, emblems of each branch of the military, and powerful words of tribute, ensuring it will stand out on the road as a beacon of appreciation.

This meaningful project was made possible not by a single entity, but by the collective generosity of ten community partners who share a deep commitment to supporting veterans. GCTD extends its profound gratitude to the following sponsors:

  • Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership (BayTran)
  • BASF Freeport
  • Cindy's Bail Bond Agency
  • Chevron Phillips Chemical
  • Freeport LNG
  • Phillips 66
  • Sue Cornell - Coldwell Banker Ultimate Realtor
  • TDECU
  • The Warriors Refuge
  • VOW22

The new Veterans Bus is more than a symbol; it is an integral part of our commitment to veterans. It will be actively used in our dedicated Veterans Service, which provides essential, curb-to-curb transportation for veterans from within our Brazoria County service area directly to the Houston VA Hospital.

This vital service is offered at an affordable rate of just $3.50 for a one-way trip or $7 for a round trip, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to accessing critical healthcare.

Veterans in need of transportation or community members seeking more information about this service are encouraged to call our customer service line at 1-800-266-2320.
